Snowman Rally goes greener in 2023.

15 February 2023

The Snowman Rally will go greener for this year’s opening round of the 2023 KNC Groundworks Motorsport UK Scottish Rally Championship.

By working with Carbon Positive Motorsport for the second year of its partnership, the rally will progressively reduce its environmental impact by offering all competitors carbon offsetting as part of their entry.

The event is unique in the UK, as it has one of Carbon Positive Motorsport's rewilding-based carbon offsetting projects directly located in the local community that supports the event. The Woodland Carbon Code certified project, based at Loch Ness, benefited from over 200 tonnes of carbon offsetting purchases made by motorsport competitors last year through Carbon Positive Motorsport and their partner Highland Carbon.

Carbon Positive Motorsport are the world’s first dedicated carbon offsetting provider, and provided last years event organisation vehicles with carbon offsetting as part of the launch of their innovative online platform. They make it possible for all involved in motorsport to be able to purchase UK-sourced, high quality, rewilding-based carbon offsetting units to help mitigate their carbon footprints.

Unlike low cost overseas carbon offsetting schemes often used by other providers, projects such as those based at Loch Ness have to meet the highest standards to ensure and prove their benefits are assured to be truly additional and permanent, to genuinely help contribute to Net Zero goals.

Carbon Positive Motorsport is a purpose led company, and was founded in the Highlands by motorsport competitor and Highland Car Club member Paul Glass. The company has gone from strength to strength in their first full season of operation, bringing a lot of media attention to the events and competitors using their services.

Paul said, "I’m delighted that the AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally has included carbon offsetting in their entry for this year’s event. It’s another good example of the Highland Car Club's progressive thinking towards supporting the local environment, and in doing so, helping make the event and the sport attractive and sustainable for future generations to enjoy."

The iconic event takes place on March 4th and is the first round of the 2023 KNC Groundworks Motorsport UK Scottish Rally Championship season. The challenging event regularly attracts a strong entry from around the UK.

It only costs a little to make a big difference for the sport, so whether you're a competitor or spectator, why not join with us to help make motorsport sustainable.
