Carbon Positive Motorsport is proud to announce its collaboration with Ripon Motor Sport Club to offset their CO₂ emissions for the Riponian Stages Rally.
The Riponian Stages Rally promises to deliver thrilling motorsport action while taking proactive steps towards minimising its environmental impact. The rally has offset their emissions by 200%, with 18 tonnes of CO2 emissions offset now via Carbon Reduction Units, and a further 18 tonnes in the future using Pending Issuance Units.
Scheduled to take place on on 9th February 2025, the rally is set in the stunning Yorkshire forests, with stages planned in Boltby, Cropton, and Gale Rigg. In partnership with the rally organisers, Carbon Positive Motorsport will calculate and offset the carbon emissions generated by the event, ensuring a positive contribution to the environment.
Our carbon offsetting initiatives focus on UK-based rewilding projects, delivered in partnership with Highland Carbon. These projects are accredited under the Sequoia Carbon Code, ensuring measurable and meaningful environmental benefits.
Steve Smith, Carbon Positive Motorsport Director, shared his thoughts on this initiative: “We're delighted to be collaborating with the team organising the Riponian Stages Rally. By offsetting the rally’s emissions, we’re not only addressing its environmental impact but also setting an example of how motorsport can be a force for positive change. This marks another step forward in our mission to make motorsport environmentally sustainable for future generations.”
Nick Dale, the Clerk of the Course, added, "It's vital to demonstrate that motorsport and sustainability can go hand in hand. We’re thrilled to be working with Carbon Positive Motorsport to make the Riponian Stages Rally more environmentally sustainable, as one of the first steps on our journey to Net Zero.
"We're already making efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, for example we have reduced our paper usage by using the Sportity app for competitor documentation and only issuing online tickets for spectator areas. By working with Carbon Positive Motorsport we can offset our unavoidable emissions while planning to reduce our footprint further."

The Riponian Stages Rally
The Riponian Stages Rally is scheduled for Sunday, 9th February 2025, with rally headquarters and service based at the Thirsk Rural Business Centre throughout the event. Spectators can purchase tickets for designated viewing areas in Boltby, Cropton, and Gale Rigg forests at £20 per car.
