Carbon Positive Motorsport has launched new carbon offsetting solutions for events and competitors. The new packages are tailor-made to make it easier and faster to be positive about motorsport.
200% Positive Offsetting
The result of months of research, including reviewing developments in the carbon offsetting market, incorporating various legislation changes, and taking on board feedback from customers, our new packages offer 200% positive offsetting.
Events and competitors can now claim that they have already offset 100% of their estimated emissions using carbon reduction units. In addition they will be able to promote that they will offset an additional 100% in the future using projects in development.
This level of positive offsetting can be used in a meaningful and impactful way to attract media coverage and sponsors.
New for competitors: Offset your Season
This new package allows competitors to purchase 200% positive levels of offsetting, based on their estimated fuel usage for a full season. As well as making it easier to offset an entire season in one hit, the package offers a saving when compared to purchasing offsets event-by event.
Offset your season can be purchased in 1, 2, or 3-tonne offsetting levels. From our proprietary database we know these options cover the emissions created over a season for most competitors. For every tonne that is offset, there will be a further tonne of positive offsetting enabled in the future, allowing competitors to become 200% positive.
The package includes two positive about motorsport decals and a sustainably produced presentation folder and carbon offsetting certificate, detailing the offsetting projects used and their registration details.
With an increasing number of events now including carbon positive motorsport offsetting, competitors are advised to consider their expected fuel use excluding events that have previously included carbon offsetting.
New carbon offsetting solutions for events
For 2024 we have created three new carbon offsetting solutions for events - enviroPro, enviroPlus and enviroMax.
Each package provides an increased 200% positive level of offsetting:
100% offsetting is provided immediately through carbon reduction units.
100% offsetting is enabled in the future, using projects in development via pending issuance units.
This means events can legally promote their commitment to mitigating the environmental impact of their event through their offsetting actions.
Each package provides events with a range of event options as a complete package of offsetting, advice and promotional support. Find out what's included
With the introduction of MSUK's carbon calculator tool, events can either work with their estimated carbon footprint from the MSUK calculator, or by using our proprietary database.
The event packages have been created to reflect what most events ask us to provide and to offer the highest possible value for money. Carbon Positive Motorsport still offer a bespoke service for events and championships who may have specific requirements
Carbon Positive Motorsport founder Steve Smith explains: "Since our initative launched two years ago, we have constantly looked at how we can improve what we do to support competitors and events.
"We have chosen to strengthen what we do and make it simpler for everyone to offset their motorsport activities. Changing legislation surrounding carbon offsetting can make it confusing and difficult to promote, but using our service means events can legitimately use the term carbon offsetting."
Fellow director, Paul Glass, added "Only certified and verified carbon offsetting projects such as we have always used, allow events to promote carbon offsetting. During 2023 we saw huge price rises for carbon offsetting in the market – between 30% to 100% on some of our projects we use. It’s important for us to use only the best projects, so our new offers are about also providing the best possible value for money for our customers.
"If more people use carbon offsetting in motorsport, not only will we make a bigger difference, but we will be able to lower the cost for all. That’s what we hope to achieve with the changes we have made."
It only costs a little to make a big difference for the sport, so whether you're a competitor or event organiser, why not join with us to help make motorsport sustainable.
