McRae Rally Challenge Offsets All Competitors

McRae Rally Challenge to offset all competitor carbon emissions through Carbon Positive Motorsport

The McRae Rally Challenge takes place at Knockhill Race Circuit on July 2nd & 3rd and will run with all its competition related event carbon emissions being offset, using high quality and certified carbon offsetting projects based in Scotland.

These projects will capture and offset 25% more carbon in the future, than is estimated to be created through the competitors’ event-based fuel consumption. By using rewilding-based projects, the event will also support restoration of ancient woodlands and biodiversity – creating a greater environmental benefit than offsetting alone.

The partnership will also result in a discount code being made available for spectators to join with the competitors to offset their travel related carbon footprint, with the ambition to make it possible for all involved in the event to contribute to mitigate their environmental impact. All those who offset will receive a unique event decal and the opportunity to win some exclusive merchandise.

Scottish Ladies Rally champion Ashleigh Morris is one of Carbon Positive Motorsport’s brand ambassadors in this year’s Scottish Rally Championship and said of the announcement, “It’s fantastic that Carbon Positive are offsetting competitors’ emissions for the McRae Rally Challenge with Scotland-based offsetting projects. I’m really proud to be a brand ambassador for such a forward-thinking business and it’s crucial we all do what we can to protect the environment and the future of our sport.”

Carbon Positive Motorsport founder Paul Glass said ‘’I’m delighted that we can support The McRae Rally Challenge. Bringing together some of the most iconic names in rallying in such a special celebration of Colin McRae’s achievements is a wonderful opportunity to highlight that everyone involved in the sport can take positive action to help make the environment and our sport sustainable for future generations to enjoy.’’

Stuart Gray, Knockhill’s director of events added "We are impressed with Carbon Positive Motorsport with their commitment through motorsport in helping the environment. Knockhill too, has a long commitment to the environment, stretching back over 20 years including our LPG powered karts and collaborative work with the world’s first electric rally car. But the linking with Carbon Positive Motorsport with the McRae Rally Challenge is a sporting first and being one of our highest profiles events of the year, will help spread the awareness and vision of their environmental goals’’
