Porsche racer Max Coates takes win at Snetterton

Porsche Sprint Challenge GB racing driver Max Coates enjoyed a successful race weekend recently with his new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport RS.

Racing for Team Omologato with Graves Motorsport, the north-Yorkshire based Carbon Positive Motorsport brand ambassador debuted his Cayman in the popular British Touring Car Championship support race series at Snetterton on the weekend of 25/26 May.

Across six race meetings, the 2024 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB championship includes three races each weekend. After qualifying in P3 for the first race, Max made a great start and stormed into the lead on the first corner, however he couldn't hold onto the position until the flag, and finished second to Sebastian Hopkins, with fellow Graves Motorsport driver Ethan Hammerton completing the podium.

Race two saw the heavens open and Max made another great start in the wet from P2 on the grid to take a lights-to-flag win on a drying track. Team Parker team mates Sebastian Hopkins and Will Jenkins finished second and third respectively.

A fantastic first weekend in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB finished with another wet race and another brilliant drive from Max taking him to second place. Sebastian Hopkin rounded out the weekend with another top spot and Will Jenkin was again the runner up.

Max commented, "I’ve really enjoyed driving this new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport RS, it’s one hell of a bit of kit and boy does it shift! It’s certainly a thing to try and tame in the wet, but I loved it.

"A huge thank you to the team for preparing a brilliant car, Dave and Sam for their brilliant work engineering the car as we learn, to Dad, John and Richard for making sure the car worked brilliantly and looked smart all weekend and finally to Chris for massively helping with my driving and learning this new car together. Thanks to everyone who has got me on the grid. We’re getting there!"

Carbon Positive Motorsport founder Paul Glass congratulated Max on the successful weekend, "What a great result in the new car. Well done Max and all the team at Graves Motorsport on such a positive start to the season.

"We are delighted to be supporting Max again this year by offsetting his fuel usage for the season and we can't wait to see what he will do at the next round."
