Max Coates becomes Brand Ambassador

MINI CHALLENGE UK Racing driver Max Coates joins with Carbon Positive Motorsport as a brand ambassador.

Max Coates has joined Carbon Positive Motorsport as a brand ambassador and will compete with all his competitive carbon emissions offset, as part of a long-term partnership that will extend into his planned entry into the British Touring Car Championship in 2023.

During 2022 Max is competing in MINI CHALLENGE UK, which is a televised support series to the BTCC this year. Max launched the new partnership with a stunning victory last weekend, and he commented, "We can’t get away from the fact that motorsport leaves a carbon footprint during competition, so to partner with Carbon Positive Motorsport allows me to ensure that my participation in the sport now creates positive impact for the environment.

"I believe this is fundamental to the longevity of motorsport as we currently know it. I have discussed the projects with Paul and Steve and understand their significance, benefit and validity. This partnership also strengthens Graves Motorsport’s commercial offering and therefore their plans to enter the BTCC with me in 2023."

The Carbon Positive Motorsport partnership extends to Max's team, Graves Motorsport, who will offset all their event logistics. Like Max, this will be on a carbon positive level of offsetting, where 25% more emissions will be offset than are created through competition-based fuel consumption. Carbon Positive Motorsport's offsets use rewilding-based woodland carbon code certified UK projects, which support the restoration of ancient woodlands and biodiversity – creating a greater environmental benefit than offsetting alone.

Carbon Positive Motorsport founder Paul Glass said, ‘’I’m delighted that we can support Max and Graves Motorsport in a long-term arrangement that will extend in the future to the BTCC. Max is a wonderfully talented and popular racing driver – his ambassadorship will help us to raise our profile within racing, which is one of our ambitions for this year, and builds from our initial launch last year in rallying. We are especially happy that our support brings added value to Max as he looks to secure his next steps in BTCC – a series that we are keen to be involved with as it enters the Hybrid Era."

Steve Smith, Director of Carbon Positive Motorsport, added; ‘’I’m very happy that we are working with such a successful and high-profile racing driver – it’s been a big focus for us in recent months to find drivers such as Max who recognise the benefits of acting on motorsport's environmental impact. I’m especially pleased that our partnership is long term and extends to covering the trucks transporting Max between circuits, as it’s important that we don’t just focus on competition vehicles, but also the other vehicles that contribute to a competitor’s carbon footprint."
