John Wink becomes Carbon Positive Ambassador

Multiple national event winner, and SRC championship challenger John Wink joins with Carbon Positive Motorsport to help make motorsport sustainable.

John Wink will start his campaign for Scottish Rally Championship victory on next week’s Snowman Rally, using his Hyundai i20 R5 which will compete with its carbon emissions offset by carbon positive motorsport.

Paul Glass, founding director of Carbon Positive Motorsport, said: "We're really pleased to be supporting John in this year’s Scottish Rally Championship and on selected events that he has planned for this this year. Not only is he a very good driver, but also has a real interest and understanding of why the sport must take steps to respond to the climate crisis, by reducing its environmental impact.

"Like me, he wants our children to be able to enjoy and participate in motorsport in the future. I was especially impressed by how he understood that attracting sponsors and the support rallying relies on from local communities and stakeholders, can only be achieved by acting now, and that high quality carbon offsetting offers one of the best ways to help achieve that.

"I’ve been blown away by John’s enthusiasm to work with us, it’s very energising to have such positive support as we build from our brand launch. In fact, John was one of those we wanted to approach last year when we launched at the Grampian Rally, so I’m especially pleased this now comes to be possible.

When asked about the benefits he sees in carbon offsetting his season, John said: "We are delighted to be working with Paul and Steve for the 2022 season, and we think it's vital that by working together in a responsible way we can ensure that the sport has a bright future. Its important to us that we all play our part, and to be able to do this through Carbon Positive Motorsport, who have strong connections to Scotland, and also using projects in Scotland were things that really made our decision to partner with Paul and Steve an easy one. We are looking forward to helping highlight the work they do through the season."

John Wink and his co-driver Neil Shanks are car number 5 in this weekend’s Snowman Rally, which features a quality packed entry.
