Bad luck dogs Morris at Jersey Rally

Carbon Positive Motorsport Ambassador Ashleigh Morris and co-driver Martin Haggett retire from 2024 Jersey Rally

Carbon Positive Motorsport Ambassador Ashleigh Morris and co-driver Martin Haggett retired from 2024 Jersey Rally

Ashleigh headed back to the Jersey Rally with the aim of a clean, consistent run to the finish on her second attempt at the event. It was a first visit to the technical and challenging narrow stages for experienced co-driver Martin Haggett, and by Friday night the pair were happy to be lying 4th in class and 43rd overall.

Ashleigh told us, "I was determined to get a finish and was very cautious on the night stages after the wall incident last year!"

Sadly for Ashleigh, on day two the gremlins struck and a damaged radiator meant the crew were out of the competition. "Unfortunately once again luck wasn’t with us. By the end of SS15 we were up to 39th overall, when the radiator went and we had to retire," said Ashleigh.

"I need to go back next year as I have unfinished business," she added. "Maybe it will be third time lucky!"

Carbon Positive Motorsport will be offsetting the carbon footprint from Ashleigh’s fuel usage on the rally, as well as fuel usage from the recce and from the team’s travel to the island.

Ashleigh said, “I’m really passionate about the work Carbon Positive Motorsport do to promote a sustainable future for our sport. It’s really important to me to be able to give something back.

"We'll get the car repaired and maybe get one more asphalt event in this season, but it's time to look ahead to 2025. I miss the gravel, so I'm contemplating a return to the Scottish Rally Championship.”

Carbon Positive Motorsport Director, Steve Smith, added "Massive commiserations to Ashleigh - Jersey has really not been kind. Hopefully the car can be fixed and Ashleigh will be out rallying again soon."

Ashleigh is also sponsored by Morris Lubricants, Petrolhead Perfume and Demon Tweeks Motorsport.
