The Autumn Road Rally

The partnership represents a first in UK motorsport, as the event is the first road rally to include carbon offsetting for all competitors and organisers vehicles.

This event was a round of the prestigious Motoring News Road Rally Championship in the late 1970's and early 1980's and returns to the lanes of West Wales to run this year as a qualifying round of the 2023 Welsh Road Rally championship.

The Autumn Rally joins several leading UK Welsh based rally events such as Rali Bae Ceredigion, The Cambrian Rally and The Nicky Grist Stages, to include carbon positive levels of offsetting.

Aron Jones of the Carmarthen Motor Club said: “Speaking to every homeowner along the 100-mile route, giving them reassurance that the event is working with Carbon Positive Motorsport in order to mitigate our event’s carbon footprint helps a lot in making them feel at ease. It shows that Carmarthen Motor Club are thinking about the long-term longevity of road rallying in West Wales in the future.

“Motorsport, in particular road rallying, is a grass roots sport, accessible to a close-knit community in West Wales - as well as many other regions across the UK. Ensuring that this continues for years to come is absolutely essential. As a club we have been immensely impressed with what Carbon Positive offer to support us in this forward journey.”

Carbon Positive Motorsport director Paul Glass added, “We are very proud to be working with the event and have been very impressed by the organiser’s progressive and positive approach in taking responsibility to mitigate the environmental impact of the rally. This is the first road rally to work with our event carbon offsetting package, and this will see 25% more carbon offset in the future than it is estimated to be generated by the event running.

“The commitment in Welsh rallying to mitigate the environmental impact of the sport, through our high-quality rewilding-based UK based carbon offsetting projects, is truly impressive and forms the highest level of offsetting of any UK region so far. The Autumn Rally also proves that it’s possible to offer competitors good value rallying at the grassroots level and still take responsibility for the environment, using our dedicated motorsport event package.

“We are also very hopeful that in early 2024 we will be able to announce a Welsh-based carbon offsetting project, that meets our uncompromising project standards, in order to complete our exclusive portfolio of carbon offsetting projects available in every region of the UK.”
