Carbon Positive Motorsport Ambassadors are expected to offset over 3000Kg CO2e on the Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally.
This year’s Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally will see six Carbon Positive Motorsport ambassadors competing over three days of rally action in the Scottish borders, with an expected 3000Kg CO2e of carbon emissions to be offset. The competitors will be using Carbon Positive Motorsport's new Offset Your Season package to offset 200% of their on-event carbon emissions.
This new package enables competitors to easily offset their expected season's carbon emissions, based on their expected fuel use of the year. It also offers a discounted rate compared to the standard online prices. The aim is to make it simple and fast for competitors to offset their unavoidable on-event carbon emissions on the events that do not offer offsetting.
Competitors who take out season offsetting receive a package that includes a carbon offsetting certificate and positive about motorsport decals, enabling them to display their commitment to mitigating their competition-based environmental footprint.
This year’s event sees a high turnout from Carbon Positive Motorsports ambassadors, with Cat Lund of Carbon Positive Motorsport co-driving for Kent-based Darrell Taylor in his Fiesta Rally2 on a rare appearance in Scotland. Joining Cat on the event are David Bogie, Jock Armstrong, John Wink, and current Carbon Positive Motorsport Ladies SRC champion Meghan O’Kane.
Joining them is new brand ambassador Willie Patterson, the CEO of Asset Alliance group. Asset Alliance announced this week that their rally programme for 2024 both in the UK and overseas will be fully carbon offset by Carbon Positive Motorsport for all their drivers.
Paul Glass from Carbon Positive Motorsport commented, "We introduced our Offset Your Season package in response to competitor's feedback. They asked us to make it easier to offset their carbon emissions, especially where events were not working with us. Although we see an increasing number of leading events supporting our initiative, sadly there are still many events who do not yet.
"Offset Your Season helps to bridge this gap, and offers competitors a similar level of discount to events who do offer our offsetting initiative. Making one purchase in a greater quantity for a season’s competition allows us to reduce the costs, which makes it possible for more people to help make motorsport and the environment sustainable for future generations to enjoy.
"We're seeing increasing interest from sponsors such as Viking Offshore and Asset Alliance Group, and I’m delighted to welcome Asset Alliance drivers Garry Pearson and Max McRae on board for 2024.
Available in either one, two or three tonne unit levels, Offset Your Season is based on expected fuel consumption. At £95 per season for one tonne, it’s a small cost that makes a big difference to the sport.
